February Focus: Self - Love
Welcome to February! It might be the shortest month of the year, but we have so much to get through! This month’s focus is all things self-love - and is as much of a reminder for me as it is for you. Let’s dive in…
What is it? What is Self-Love?
I’m not just talking about THAT kind of self-love (though our friends at Girls Get Off DEFINITELY have that covered - more about them throughout the month!); I’m talking about all the things that you can do to make showing yourself as much love and care as you give to others. It can be as simple as an affirmation, or as elaborate as an influencers skincare routine, but it should be a consistent habit. You yourself, as much as everyone else, deserve your love and attention. You cannot pour from an empty cup; but you also can’t receive all the validation and love you need from external sources…. it HAS to come from within too!
What can it look like?
Some of my personal favourite ways to self-care are:
having a float at City Cave: fantastic for recovery, overall wellness and for anyone who is excessively fatigued. This could also look like going for a massage, seeing your physio or chiro, working out or taking a nap. Whatever you need to help reset your body and mind for what’s to come.
Doing my Skincare Routine: paying attention to the largest organ of the body isn’t merely about vanity; it’s vital self-care and an important part of your overall wellness. Don’t believe me? The next time your organs don’t fall out - thank your skin!
Meditation and Journalling: The beautiful thing about this as self care is that you don’t necessarily need any additional “stuff” to do it. Just you, a few moments of peace and self reflection and an improved mood after checking in either yourself.
Performing a Random Act of Kindness: sometimes, the only thing that can pull me out of a slump is doing something thoughtful and kind for someone else- purely for no reason other than doing a good deed. It helps to remind me that sometimes my problems aren’t as big as I think they are!
Going to a Concert or Festival: the vibe, the crowd, the collective joy of appreciating music as art…. Finding old friends in the crowd and making new ones. A sneaky bev or post show meal with friends. It’s a great way to remind yourself that there things that connect you to others, even if it doesn’t always feel that way.
Why are we focusing on self-love?
Self-love, at least for me, is an ongoing process to master. It’s not something I have ever been great at, and that’s something I want to work on.
In a world where it sometimes feels like you’re only as good as how others perceive you, what YOU think of you should always be the louder voice; but often isn’t. I have never not struggled to love my body, and my hope is that through this month, in opening you up to the concept of giving yourself a greater level of self-care, we can set some positive habits for ourselves and keep each other accountable.
February is also my birthday month - but I’m giving YOU GUYS the presents! This month, everyone booked in for treatment in the month of February will go into the draw to win a THBC self-love bundle, valued at over $500! It will include goodies from our friends at Bestow Beauty, Mesoestetic, Girls Get Off and Silk Oil of Morocco - everything you need to make you the love of your own life!
Happy February, everyone!
Love,
Katie J xx
